For Sales, Marketing and Operational territory mapping strategies we are often provided with client data in the form of customer addresses, store locations or areas covered by Sales Engineers across the UK. By consulting with the client to understand the strategy, we can quickly offer the most suitable means of dividing a geographic whole area into smaller parts.
Territories may be formed by following obvious and simple rules within the client data to derive clear operational areas or applying geographic rules such as ‘crow flies’ distance or drivetimes from a postcode. Another strategy approach is to consult with the business for a more sophisticated solution, perhaps by building in algorithms to take account of factors such as Engineer expertise, product type or workload.
Once the territories have been created they can be cross – referenced and then displayed using geographies such as Postcode Areas, Districts and Sectors; postcode definitions are easily translated into everyday operations such as servicing customers and direct marketing.
